Nigeria Police Force has dismissed the claim that certain thugs were sent to attack the people of Igbo tribe at Ojo local government area Headquarters where they gathered to register for permanent voter’s card, PVCs after the whole Alaba International Market was closed down completely for all traders in the market to participate in the registration exercise.
Lagos State Police Command spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin said most of the people in the vicinity where the crisis occured were people of Igbo origin.
Hundeyin said the registration venue was besieged by mammoth crowd and the situation became worst that only one registration terminal was working.
Hundeyin added that one of the people who came for the voter’s card registration made trouble and those around challenged him, and that caused uproar in the area.
The Police Spokesperson said the situation was put under control immediately and normalcy has since returned to the area.
