Terrorists in the early morning of today Sunday night attacked and set ablaze the Priest of Saint Peters and Paul Catholic Church in Kafin-koro in Paikoro local government area of Niger, Reverend Father Isaac Achi.
The terrorists also set ablaze the catholic parish house and injured his colleague identified as Father Collins.
It was gathered that the attackers invaded the church around 3 a.m today.
Niger police spokesman, DSP Abiodun Wasiu said that before the police tactical team got to the scene, the terrorists had escaped, according to Nation Newspaper report.
DSP Abiodun added that that the corpse of Father Achi was recovered while Father Collins was rushed to the hospital for treatment.
According to residents, the bandits set the parish on fire in the course of having difficulty in gaining entrance into the Church building.
Sources said, after about hours of fruitless effort to force their way into the house between the hours of 1 to 3 a.m, the bandits poured Petroleum Motor Spirit (PMS) popularly refers to as petrol around the house and set it on fire.
Late Reverend Father Isaac Achi, a native of Kafin Koro, survived the December 2011 bombing of Saint Theresa Catholic Church, Madella in the Suleja local government area of the state, according to Sun Newspaper.
