Buhari, Happy President In A Sorrow Filled Country
No amount of deaths of Nigeria citizens seemingly can stop President Muhammadu Buhari’s happiness.
Killings by Unknown Gunmen, Boko Haram, Iswap, Bandits cannot seemingly throw President Muhammadu Buhari into mourning.
Or, cancel any state ceremony or function as a way to draw public attention on the need to collectively find solutions to the high level of uncontrollable killings of young men and women mostly in the military and civilian armed groups.
Nigerians since on Sunday have continued to express shock and feel a deep sense of loss over the killing of intending army couple who were said to be on their way to attend their traditional wedding ceremony in Imo State.
A.M Linus, a Master Warrant Officer of the Nigerian Army, alongside his wife to be, were killed on their way to Imo State on Saturday.
The intending couple, both soldiers were beheaded and a phone call from a person who identified herself as a friend was answered by one of the unknown gunmen, who confirmed that the people were killed alongside other two persons simply because they were soldiers.
The immediate family and very large numbers of persons in Nigeria appeared to have been in a mourning mood most especially when a fresh fact came up today that they were on their way to do their traditional marriage.
While many feel sad, photographs from the office of the President on Monday afternoon shows President Muhammadu Buhari, Vice President Professor Yemi Osibanjo and other guests were celebrating Sallah with so much fun and expression of happiness even when many Muslims are mourning the deaths of their loved ones killed either by the secessionists or the terrorists.
Insensitivity President Muhammadu Buhari and his Public Affairs managers actions could be, Femi Adesina, one of the Public Affairs managers of the President ran to his social media accounts to inform Nigerians so sad with the gruesome killings of the intending army couple that President Muhammadu Buhari received Sallah homage and presentation of gifts from FCT Minister, Muhammad Musa Bello and FCT Minister of State, Ramatu Tijani Aliyu.
Displayed and showcased happy President Muhammadu Buhari in photographs with the caption:
“President Buhari with Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and Senate President Ahmed Lawan as he receives Sallah Homage in State House on 2nd May 2022”.
Both the Senate President and the Nigeria seemingly worst mistake as President, Muhammadu Buhari were smiling with drinks and other forms of merriment on their table while the country is bleeding, families in mourning.
We are not against President Muhammadu Buhari celebrating the Sallah, but we believed a caring and a responsible President knows what to do with the situation of things today in the country.
The insensitivity as displayed by the President and his team is capable of forcing more Nigeria soldiers to enlist and provide supports to Boko Haram, Iswap, Bandit terrorist groups and Unknown Gunmen secessionist group in the Northern and Southern parts of Nigeria respectively.
It is largely believed and widely speculated that many Nigeria soldiers are working in collaboration with the secessionist and terrorist groups.
According to BBC report of October 17, 2017,
Barack Obama, during his term in office, wrote letters and made calls to families of killed Americans and also made frequent visits to the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center to spend time with wounded troops.
“George W. Bush also wrote letters to families of troops killed in the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, which began during his tenure”, BBC report reads.
AP news media on August 29, 2021 captured the moment the current USA president, Joe Biden personally led his wife, Jill Biden to physically stand and witness with grieving families “under a gray sky as, one by one, the remains of 13 U.S. troops killed in the Kabul suicide bombing were removed with solemnity from a military aircraft that brought them home.
“The only sounds that could be heard during the mournful ritual of the “dignified transfer” were the quiet commands of the honor guards in battle dress who carried the flag-draped cases, the hum of the C-17 aircraft that had transported the fallen and the periodic sob of the sorrowful.
“Biden and his wife, Jill, met privately with family members of those killed in the suicide attack near the Kabul airport before the president became the fourth commander in chief over two decades of war to stand at attention at Dover Air Force Base as the remains of the fallen from Afghanistan returned home”, AP news reads.
Back home, President Muhammadu Buhari could not attend the burial ceremony of his Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Ibrahim Attahiru who died in active service alongside ten other military officers in a plane crash in Kaduna state.
Despite the fact that the burial was held in Abuja and at a place very close to Aso Rock, the presidential villa, President Muhammadu Buhari acted as a man who have poor understanding of the common managerial rules of showing empathy and identifying with your subjects to win more loyalty and gain better command and control.
Today, we are not surprise that Nigeria soldiers are enlisting into terrorist groups.
Recently, a news of Abdullahi Jibrin, a lance corporal with the Nigerian Army battalion in Geidam community in Yobe state, reportedly committed suicide.
“Jibrin was said to have committed suicide after he was arrested for allegedly working with Boko Haram.
“Jibrin, a weapon instructor, was said to have taken part in the recent attacks recorded in the state.
