
Davido Cancels Event Over Son’s Death
Management of Are We African Yet, AWAY festival, an event promoted by Nigerian music star, David Adeleke well known as Davido has postponed the show to enable the music super star mourn his dead son, Ifeanyi Adeleke.
Ifeanyi Adeleke, Davido’s son died on October 31, 2021 after he allegedly fell into a swimming pool at his father mansion in Banana Island, Lagos.
According to the Management of the Show, the AWAY festival has been shifted to November 18, 2023 to enable Davido spend time with his family and loved ones “at this time”.
AWAY festival was earlier scheduled to hold in Georgia, Atlanta, United States this month November 18, 2022.
The Festival managers in a statement shared on the Festival’s Instagram page in the early hours of Thursday morning, said those who have bought tickets for the event would still be able to use same tickets to get pass into the show next year.
“We have made the difficult but necessary decision to postpone A.W.A.Y Festival until Saturday, November 18, 2023.
“We understand that you must be disappointed but we promise to come back with a bigger and better show.
“It is necessary for Davido to spend time with his family and loved ones at this time” , the statement reads.
Meanwhile, there have been reports that the Nigerian Afrobeats superstar, Davido, returned to Instagram, days after the death of his son, Ifeanyi Adeleke.
The reports indicated that Davido upon his return, made some adjustments to his Instagram profile, and allegedly unfollowed DJ Cuppy, and her Billionaire father, Femi Otedola.
Davido who has 25.8M followers on his verified Instagram page and following 1,6777 people before the death of his son made changes as he unfollowed three (3) accounts from his followers, according to reports.
Davido was rumoured to have unfollowed Cuppy and his father because the Billionaire business man, Femi Otedola went ahead to celebrate his birthday while Davido was mourning his son.
Davido acted “even though, they both sent their condolence messages to him.
“Aside from unfollowing the duo, Davido deletes all his pinned posts; he also deleted his anticipated festival post, A.W.A.Y, which is slated to take place at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia on November 18, 2022.
“He had already invited artists that include, Kizz Daniel, Wande Coal, Lojay, Pheelz, Oxlade, BNXN (fka Buju), Focalistc, and Victony”, according to reports from some media outfits on Wednesday.
