Holy Bible made us to understand that in the beginning, God created the heaven and the earth; and the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep, and the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters, and God said, let there be light: and there was light.

This means the situation of the earth at the beginning was that the whole earth was in darkness and God made changes.

This is not different from the current situation in Nigeria where almost everything is in darkness.

Nigeria politics is in darkness. Nigeria economy is in darkness.

We need more of the likes of Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State who will betray all agents of darkness for the world and Nigerians to see light.

There is nothing good about darkness. Darkness must be betrayed.

This is to say, we watched Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike yesterday made mockery and pride himself as Mr-Fix-it that made Godwin Obaseki, governor for second term in Edo state.

Wike made the statement while reacting to the response of Governor Godwin Obaseki who described the Rivers governor as a political bully, overlord who is acting as a clog in the wheel of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP membership growth in Edo state.

Governor Godwin Obaseki made the statement in reaction to Governor Nyesom Wike earlier attempt to belittle and underrate the Edo State Deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu who had expressed displeasure over what he considered inappropriate and unfair treatment in the PDP.

Governor Wike described Governor Godwin Obaseki as a serial betrayal and thereafter apologized to the Former All Progressives Congress, APC National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole who frustrated Obaseki’s efforts in contesting for his second term in office under the platform of APC.

Adams Oshiomhole was the former Governor of Edo state and under his administration, some state taxes were contracted to individual companies for collection with a specific amount to be paid to the state government.

The style of tax collection and remittance, many close watchers saw as an act capable of making the Edo people’s tax money to continue to enter some individual pockets for life, as long as Godwin Obaseki and other governors so install by the godfather permit the darkness to continue or refused to betray darkness and pronounced let there be light in Edo state.

Governor Godwin Obaseki soon after assuming office in his first years, stopped all the individual companies collecting taxes for Edo state government.

He directed all taxes to be paid directly to the state government.

Prior to the September 19, 2020 Governorship election in Edo, Adams Oshiomhole led APC disqualified Godwin Obaseki.

An action millions of Edo people, home and abroad protested against and urged Godwin Obaseki to pick any available political party and they would vote for him.

Governor Godwin Obaseki sought the support of PDP.

PDP was more or less a dead party in Edo state then. Angry Edo people voted PDP because of Godwin Obaseki.

For the avoidance of doubt, Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State and the entire PDP members were mere beneficiaries of the opportunity created by Adams Oshiomhole.

The enrollment of Godwin Obaseki as a PDP leader was a rebirth for the party in the state.

It would have been a forever loss for the PDP if the party had not grab the opportunity of accepting Godwin Obaseki.

The current present of Godwin Obaseki in the political party is the boldness the PDP has in hoping to winning governorship seat in the state by 2024 and thereafter.

Obaseki said Wike refused to allow numbers of intending new members to be registered in the Edo State chapter of the PDP for reason best known to him.

We see Governor Nyesom Wike response to Obaseki allegation as a confirmation that the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike is assuming and seeing himself as a godfather in the Edo State PDP.

A reason he should know is why Edo people supported Godwin Obaseki to leave APC to PDP.

A reason he should know that Edo people did expect any member of PDP to act as godfather or boss before Godwin Obaseki.

Obaseki we see as a symbol of God declaring light where there is darkness in Nigeria.
