
Family Jubilates As Seun Kuti Leaves Police Custody
Family and friends on Tuesday night expressed joy and excitement to receive Seun Kuti, son of Fela Anikulakpo-kuti who was released from the dreaded Police Station, State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, SCIID, Panti, Yaba after more than one week behind bars.
Seun Kuti has been in the police detention facility since the early hours of Monday, May 15, 2023 after being caught on camera physically assaulting a police officer along the Third mainland bridge in Lagos State.
Video posted online on Tuesday, showed family and friends in happy mood and celebrated the release of the son of the Afrobeat singer.
Seun Kuti in a social media post, said, he owes his freedom and sanity to his family, his wife and legal team.

It would be recalled that the Inspector General of Police, Usman Baba Alkali ordered his arrest on May 13 after a video of him slapping and pushing a police officer on Third Mainland bridge surfaced online.
He turned himself in on Monday, May 15 and has been in police custody since then. He was released on bail on Tuesday night, May 23.
Before his release on Tuesday night, the trial of the afrobeat singer, Seun Kuti, was stalled at the Yaba Magistrate court in Lagos state, following the absence of Magistrate Adeola Olatubosun.
It was gathered that no reason was given for the absence of Magistrate Adeola Olatubosun who has been presiding over the case.
Recall that last week, the police approached the court for an extension of its order to remand Seun till Tuesday, May 23.
Seun Kuti was brought to the magistrates’ court, but upon learning of the absence of the magistrate, he was immediately taken to the police station at Panti. The case was adjourned till Wednesday, May 24.
