Igbos Have Non Reciprocity Love, Belief In Nigeria – Uzodimma
By Hope Uzodimma
Public Lecture in honour of Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu’s 80th Birthday Celebration, offered yet another avenue to celebrate an enigma who has distinguished himself in service to the Igbo race and Nigeria at large.
At the event, held at Sam Mbakwe Hall, Imo Concord Hotel Owerri, I awakened the conciousness of Ndi Igbo in leveraging on our comparative advantage and strengthen our negotiation skills to play at the center.
The non-reciprocity of the love and belief Igbos have in Nigeria, has continued to reverberate the unfortunate event of the 60s. However, as we continue to bridge the gap, we hope to achieve a balance for all in the Federation.
What the Igbos seek from the country is accommodation, not domination. What we seek is acceptance and not rejection. What we seek is friendship and brotherhood, and we are also willing and able to offer the same.
Having said that, let me submit that the truth of the matter is that in spite of obvious misinterpretations and misrepresentations, Igbos love Nigeria passionately and the evidence is overwhelming.
On behalf of the Government and good people of Imo State, I commended His Excellency, Former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, GCFR and other dignitaries who joined us to celebrate the renowned nationalist.
We pray that this uncommon show of love spreads across in order to strengthen our unity as a nation.Hope Uzodimma
