Nigerians React As UK Makes 42-Year-Old Rishi Sunak Prime Minister
United Kingdom has announced Rishi Sunak as the new Prime Minister, expected to fix the economic crisis faced by many in the country.
Nigerians took to twitter to express their concerns over the choice of 42 years old Indian born Rishi Sunak becoming the first British-Asian Prime Minister in the history of the United Kingdom.
Shortly after Sir Graham Brady, chairman of the 1922 Committee of Conservative Members of Parliament, announced Rishi Sunak as the new Tory Leader and Prime Minister of United Kingdom, some group of Nigerians questioned the rationale behind younger Nigerians providing support for older men and women to continue to rule over them even when things are getting worse in the West Africa country.
Tweets from some from Nigerians who expressed themselves are embedded below.
Also embedded is an Instagram post of Rishi Sunak, he made a day before he was announced Prime Minister.
Rishi Sunak in the Instagram post said, fixing the economic crisis in the United Kingdom is the reason he decided to become UK Prime Minister and leader of the Conservative Party.
It would be recalled that Liz Truss, resigned few days ago as Prime Minister following the continued economic crisis in the United Kingdom.
Liz Truss resigned barely 44 days in office.
According to Liz Truss, she resigned because she can’t fix the economic crisis. She said, fixing the economic crisis was the mandate of the Conservative Party; on the ground, she was made the Prime Minister.
