
Police Arrests 18-Year-Old Kidnapper, Others In Niger

Niger State Police Command wishes to inform members of the public of the recent achievements of the Command, that on 27 January 2023 at about 10:30 hours, based on intelligence received that two male adults were sighted lurking around Lambata-Bonu road, Gurara Local Government Area.
Consequently, DPO Lambata mobilized Police tactical teams with local vigilante members to the area and arrested the following two suspects;
-Isyaku Anaruwa Abdullahi, 18 years of Kwakuti village via Kafin-Koro, Paikoro Local Government Area.
-Muhammadu Sani Yakubu, 21 years of Paiko-Kore village via Gwagwalada area of FCT Abuja.
During interrogation, the duo confessed to being among the kidnapping syndicates terrorizing Gwagwalada FCT Abuja, Lambata and Kafin-Koro areas respectively.
Three handsets were recovered from the suspects and a sum of two million, one hundred thousand naira collected as ransom negotiated to release two victims earlier abducted at Gwagwalada.
They confessed further that kidnapped victims were kept at Gwalo forest.
The DPO further mobilized and combed the Gwalo forest in between Lambata and Kafin-Koro areas.
In the process, the tactical teams had a gun battle with the abductors in the forest, while the hoodlums escaped from the hideout and abandoned seven victims; six males and one female at the scene.
The victims were rescued unhurt, taken to FMC for medical attention and reunited with their families.
FOILED KIDNAPPING, ARREST OF A SUSPECT WITH A LOCALLY MADE GUN
Earlier, on 21 January 2023 at about 01:00 hours, information was received that a strange gunshot was heard around Tuntiko village, Mokwa Local Government Area and Patrol team attached to Mokwa Division with local vigilante members were drafted to the area.
In the process of combing the nearby forest around the village, one Mohamed Bello of Bate-Ukpo village, Mokwa was arrested with one locally fabricated gun and a cutlass.
During interrogation, the suspect confessed that he conspired with one Dogo Yellow and Dogo Mai-Saje, both presently at large to kidnap a person in the village.
All suspects will be arraigned in court for prosecution, as soon as investigations are concluded, as effort is ongoing to identify and arrest other members of the syndicates.
The Commissioner of Police, Niger State Command CP Ogundele J. Ayodeji, wishes to reassure members of the public and Nigerlites that the Command will continue to live up to its statutory responsibilities of ensuring a secured environment, with the cooperation of people and provision of adequate information to the Police.
