Police Arrests 254 Suspected Kidnappers, Armed Robbers, Secret Cult Members
Nigeria Police Force has arrested and detained over 254 suspected criminals including elderly women involved in various alleged crimes in the country.
Nigeria Police Force while parading some of the suspects before news reporters early this month, said the suspects were involved in kidnapping armed robbery, gun running for terrorists and secret cult activities.
According to the Police Spokesperson, Olumuyiwa Adejobi; “The Nigeria Police Force in its continuous dedication to the pursuit of justice and the apprehension of criminals across various forms of crime, as well as upholding the rule of law and protecting the rights of every citizen which remains paramount as we strive towards a more secure and peaceful Nigeria, has yet again recorded various achievements in this wise.
Over the past two weeks, the Nigeria Police Force has achieved significant milestones in combating crime and criminality nationwide.
The NPF’s targeted and relentless efforts have resulted in the arrest of 254 suspects, including 92 armed robbers, 153 kidnappers, and 9 suspected cultists.
Additionally, 35 kidnapped victims have been successfully rescued unhurt, with 7 stolen vehicles recovered. Furthermore, these ardently executed operations have led to the recovery of 44 arms along with 477 rounds of ammunition of various calibers.
In a prominent case, FID-IRT operatives acting on active intelligence concerning a syndicate of trans-border gunrunners operating in Plateau state, supplying arms and ammunition to criminal elements beyond the country’s borders, arrested ten (10) suspects including is a transborder arms and ammunition supplier based in Obudu Local Government Area of Cross River State, who supplies AK-47 rifles, ammunition, and rocket launchers to rebels and other criminal elements in neighboring countries.
Also, a factory in Kuru, Jos, Plateau state where rifles are fabricated was also discovered. A total of 2 Ak-47 rifle, 9 automatic pistols, and 1,800 rounds of live ammunition were recovered.
Similarly, operatives of the FID-IRT received intelligence of a group suspected to be involved in arms dealing and kidnapping in Sutai, Bali Local Government Area of Taraba State, upon which they buckled down and arrested 2 suspects.
Subsequent interrogation and investigation revealed that one of the suspects had been in possession of 12 Ak-47 rifles about 2 years ago, but was intercepted by police operatives while returning from an operation and had fled and managed to escape with just 2 Ak-47 rifles. The other suspect confessed to being in possession of a single Ak-47 rifle and also belonging to a syndicate that specializes in gun running and cattle rustling.
Likewise, operatives of the FCT Special Intervention Squad arrested a suspect from Audi village, who admitted to belonging to a gang of over 20 kidnappers and their informant. The suspect confessed to participating in two kidnapping operations, holding victims captive for 21 days, and collecting a ransom of 1.1 million.
He also owned an AK-47 rifle, which he paid ₦300,000 for, and Yaroro, his gang leader, completed the balance before acquiring the weapon. He confessed that his gang members killed Ardo Shaibu and his family, eradicating his lineage from Dorayi village, Kaduna State.
These cases and others not mentioned exemplify the dedication and effectiveness of the Nigeria Police Force in combating crime and ensuring the safety of all citizens.
The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun hereby emphasizes that the Nigeria Police Force remains resolute in the discharge of its duties, and is committed to implementing necessary measures and strategies to create a safer environment for every resident of the country”.
Meanwhile, the Inspector General of Police has assured residents of adequate safety as the holy month of Ramadan begins.
Police authority said; “the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, extends the warmest greetings from the Nigeria Police Force to all Muslim Ummah across the country on the Ramadan season, a time of reflection, spiritual growth, and communal solidarity which holds great significance for millions of Muslim faithful around the world.
During this holy period, the Nigeria Police reaffirms its commitment to ensuring the safety, security, and well-being of all citizens. The Police, as an institution, recognizes the importance of respecting religious practices and cultural traditions and the need to promote the principles of tolerance, understanding, and unity within our diverse society.
The IGP urges all Muslim Ummah to embrace the spirit of compassion, generosity, and forgiveness that defines Ramadan. He calls for all to come together, support one another, foster a sense of harmony, and build stronger bonds of friendship and cooperation in the holy month and beyond.
The Inspector-General of Police, while urging members of the public to embrace the community policing concept, charges Nigerians to support the NPFs efforts to maintain peace and order throughout the month of Ramadan.
The IGP equally urges all Muslim Ummah to cherish the blessings of Ramadan and strive to make a positive difference in the lives of others”.
Also, the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun during the preceding week was in Dubai where he met the Dubai security chief and just as a transnational discussion on law enforcement said to be a way forward to promote effective law enforcement in Nigeria and host country.
In his words, the Force Spokesperson, Olumuyiwa Adejobi said; “The Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, representing Nigeria with distinction at the 14th World Police Summit in Dubai, actively engaged in the summit’s proceedings, showcasing Nigeria’s commitment to international policing standards.
In a significant development, following the summit, IGP Egbetokun was warmly received at the Dubai Police Headquarters on March 8th by Lieutenant General Abdulla Khalifa Obaid Al Marri, the esteemed Commander-In-Chief of Dubai Police, and the Dubai Management Team.
The visit provided an invaluable opportunity for both police chiefs and their respective delegations to engage in extensive discussions exploring the potential for bilateral cooperation and the sharing of intelligence.
Fruitful deliberations took place, underscoring the mutual interest of Nigeria and Dubai in enhancing collaborative efforts in the realm of law enforcement.
Among the topics discussed were strategies for combating transnational crime, bolstering security measures, and fostering closer ties between the two nations’ police forces.
A poignant moment captured during the visit was Lieutenant General Abdulla Khalifa Obaid Al Marri, the Commander-In-Chief, Dubai Police, presenting a token of appreciation to IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, symbolizing the spirit of cooperation and goodwill between the two law enforcement entities.
