
Residents Send SoS As Young Soldiers, Unknown Gunmen Battle In Ihiala
Disturbing messages from Ihiala local government area of Anambra State on Monday indicated that men of the Nigerian Army may have destroyed houses and other valuables during battle with Unknown Gunmen.
Some of the residents raised alarm that over 6 houses have been set ablaze in Amamputu village in Uli area of Ihiala local government area.
Some of the residents accompanied their distress messages with photographs and videos of damages allegedly caused by men of the Nigerian Army specially and newly deployed to the area.
Sources said most of the army personnel newly deployed to the Uli area last Thursday are very young soldiers; most of whom maybe below thirties by age.
According to the sources, the young soldiers in large numbers facially looked like people from a particular geopolitical zone in Nigeria.
Adding, the young soldiers took over Uli town hall building along Onitsha-Owerri road by Uli Center as their base.
One of the videos posted online saw the young soldiers supported by military helicopter.
“To my dearest friend and family,
I call upon you all to pray for Uli in ihiala Local Government Area.
“Amamputu is seriously under attack by soldiers with their armoured cars.
“They’re equipped with guns and bombs and their helicopter.
“Please pray for us .Vivian’s community Amamputu uli is seriously under attack.
“But I pray that this raging war will never take our lives and family members in Amamputu uli”, one of the distress messages read.
