
UK New Prime Minister Liz Truss Resigns
Liz Truss, United Kingdom new Prime Minister has resigned due to economic situation in the country.
Liz Truss resigned barely 6 weeks in office after formally being appointed by late Queen Elizabeth on September 6th 2022.
It was gathered that Truss resigned on Thursday afternoon following what many described as a disastrous and rapidly reversed economic plan that sent the pound plunging and her government into chaos.
Liz Truss is considered as the shortest serving Prime Minister in the history of United Kingdom. Previous shortest serving UK Prime Minister was George Canning, who lasted 119 days in the early 19th century as UK Prime Minister.
Truss announced her resignation after 44 days in office.
A leadership contest to decide the next leader of the ruling Conservative Party, who will by default become the next prime minister, is now underway and will conclude in the next week. The opposition Labour Party called for an immediate election.
She was appointed Prime Minister of the United Kingdom on September 6, replacing Boris Johnson.

“From 2004, until mid-2005, she had an extramarital affair with the married MP Mark Field, whom the Conservative Party had appointed as her political mentor.
“Given the name Mary Elizabeth Truss at birth, the former Prime Minister was born in Oxford but was raised in Scotland and Leeds.
