Unknown Gunmen Kill Army Major At Azia In Ihiala As Residents Accuse Ebubeagu Killing 6 At Uli

It was a period of sorrow and sadness as silent cold war ongoing in Ihiala local government area of Anambra State resurfaced at the weekend as Unknown Gunmen killed in action, Army Major Churchill Orji at Azia, days after Ebubeagu security operatives allegedly killed over 6 young men at Amamputu area of Uli.

Residents accused Ebubeagu security operatives to be responsible for the killing of six young men at the Amamputu quarters in Uli community of Ihiala local government area of Anambra State on Thursday.

Major Churchill Orji was killed on Saturday at Azia area in the same Ihiala local government area of Anambra State while in action or battle with the Unknown Gunmen.

A schoolmate of the deceased, Leonard Edu, confirmed the development to the Nigerian Tribune on Monday.

“He was my senior in Agulu Boys Secondary School. Our labour is perfect then. It’s true he was killed by gunmen at Azia, in Ihiala Local Government Area,” Edu said.

In a tribute on Sunday, August 21, one Ugochukwu Afoekelu, wrote; “Our brother Major Churchill Orji, you paid the price defending our dear State from bandits and unknown gunmen yesterday at Azia/Ukpor. Your efforts shall never be in vain. Agulu mourns.”

Another friend wrote; Rest in peace my brother from Nneogidi village, Agulu, Major Churchill Orji killed yesterday at Azia/Ukpor defending the South-East from the marauders.”
