A member of a vigilante group in the Lugbe area of Abuja, the seat of power, the most closet place where President Muhammadu Buhari is expected to uphold the constitution or laws of Nigeria, has been stoned and burnt to death by group of residents who accused him of blasphemous statement against Allah.
It was gathered that the deceased vigilante among other members of his group at the popular Timber Shed market at the Federal Housing Estate in Lugbe area of Abuja attempted to arrest some residents wandering around the market but there was exchange of words which the deceased vigilante was accused of making alleged blasphemous statement against Allah.
The residents had appealed to the vigilante group to free them in the name of Allah but one of the vigilantes kicked and made comments said to be blasphemous and insulting to Allah according to eyewitnesses account.
Another eyewitness who spoke under the condition of anonymity as reported by SaharaReporters, said that the vigilante was beaten and stoned before he was set ablaze by the mob.
“Omo, they just killed someone and burnt him to ashes for blasphemy at Federal Housing, Lugbe, by Timber shed. This time round, it was a fellow muslim they killed,” the witness said.
It would be recalled that Deborah Samuel, a student of the Shehu Shagari College of Education in Sokoto State was also stoned and burnt to death in Sokoto by mob of students over alleged blasphemous statement against Prophet Muhammad SAW.
