[Video] Nigeria Train On Fire, Passengers, NRC Officials Cut Trees To Quench Inferno
In what look like a questionable safety standard enforced in the new train system built by President Muhammadu Buhari, some passengers and officials of the Nigerian Railway Corporation, NRC were seen in a now viral video battling to put off a burning train which caught fire while moving on Itakpe-Warri route with leafy branches of trees.
Some gas fire extinguisher cylinders were seen on the ground but the good Samaritans made more efforts to run into nearby bushes to cut branches of trees with leaves to put off the fire.
It could not be ascertained if the smaller bottles of fire extinguishers seen were brought in by good Samaritans from their private vehicles but the sizes seen looked smaller than size appropriate for train.
In some quarters, it is believed the fire extinguishers may have expired.
Management of Nigerian Railway corporation, NRC is yet to issue statement on the development.
