Former Lagos State Governor and one of the lead Campaigner for the Presidency of Muhammadu Buhari and a Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Ahmed Tinubu has said his intention to contest as President in the forthcoming 2023 presidential election is to enable him build on the foundation the current president has started.

Bola Ahmed Tinubu made the disclosure yesterday while answering questions from presidential press correspondents at the State House in Abuja when he visited the president to inform the president of his intention to contest as President in the 2023 election.

“At the time we came in we did not pay the counterpart funds to start our rail line.

“Today you enjoy the comfort of having rail from Lagos to Ibadan, you have the Kaduna and you have the one for Kano State on the aggressive pipeline, you see excellent infrastructure.

“I just came from Azare and I have seen good roads, the carnage of dying on motor vehicles is reducing except you know, lack of compliance with a lot of Nigerian drivers and VIOs.

“Let us think back, let us be intellectually inquisitive as to the past and the present and what the future holds for Nigeria”.

It would be recalled the building of rail way was initiated by the Peoples Democratic Party Government most visible accomplishment achieved during the Government of Goodluck Ebele Jonathan.

President Muhammadu Buhari continued the construction of the rail line but many believed the President and his supporters always use the rail line legacy to cover up the more future problems they have created for Nigerians.

Nigeria debt profile increased from 12 trillion naira in 2015 when Muhammadu Buhari became president to 35 trillion naira in 2021 with little or no hope of paying back the borrowed funds. There are strong indications that President Muhammadu Buhari would borrow more in 2022 and by 2023, Nigeria debt profile must have increased to 55 trillion naira, a projection which indicated that generation yet unborn may be awaited to help solve Nigeria current debt burden and economic woes.
