
Sunday Igboho Must Be Released: Yorubas Block Benin, Ibadan, Lagos Road

Pockects of protests is currently gathering momentum in Lagos and Oyo states following the arrest of the Yoruba freedom fighter and defender against killer herdsmen, Sunday Adeyemo also known as Sunday Igboho in Cotonou, Benin Republic on Monday night.
Sunday Igboho is reportedly being charged to court for possible extradition to Nigeria who have declared him wanted after security operatives raided his house on July 1, 2021 leaving two persons dead at the spot and arresting over 12 other persons present.
Though rumour filtered in yesterday that the government of Benin Republic have released Sunday Igboho and he is currently in Germany but media reports indicated that former Chief of Army Staff and the current Nigeria Ambassador to Benin Republic, Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai fustrated the move to get the freedom fighter released.
Media report indicated that Tukur Buratai insisted with letter he allegedly sent secretly to the government of Benin Republic that Sunday Igboho must be extradited to Nigeria and the battle for the possible extradition is currently being fought at a High Court in Cotonou, the seat of Power of Benin Republic.

Few hours ago some residents took to the highly commercial inter states road; linking Lagos, Ibadan, Ondo, other south south and southeast states to demand the unconditional release of Sunday Igboho by the government of Benin Republic.
Some of the protesters blocked the T-Junction of the Soka area of Ibadan, forcing motorists, passengers and other road users to remain stranded for hours even as at the time of filling in this report.
