Video Shows Moment Man Beats Security Network, Attacks Mali President Assimi Goita With A Knife

Mali interim President, Colonel Assimi Goita was on Tuesday attacked inside a mosque while observing Eid-al-Adha prayer at the grand mosque in Bamako, the capital city of Mali.
The video shows the man sneaked through security operatives in an unsuspecting manner and ran fast to hold his target, President Assimi Goita on the neck and tried to stab him before help came through for the president.
The man was mobbed and arrested.
Reports indicated that the attackers were two in number but the other escaped.
Assimi Goita came into power on May 24, 2021 after seizing power in Mali second coup.
Goita led the first coup last August and ousted the elected President, Ibrahim Boubacar Keita.
Bah Ndaw was made the interim Mali President thereafter.
On May 22, 2021, President Bah Ndaw and the Prime Minister, Moctar Ouane were detained by soldiers.
Colonel Assimi Goita said both men had failed in their duties of steering the country back to civilian rule.
President Bah Ndaw and the Prime Minister, Moctar Ouane were released on May 25, 2021 after they both resigned.
