[VIDEO] Survivor Narrates How He Survives Owo Massacre

A man who survived Sunday terrorists attack at Saint Francis Catholic Church in Owo town of Ondo State has narrated with demonstration how he escaped being killed by the gunmen.

The man who spoke with BBC Pidgin, demonstrated how he hide under one of the long benches inside the church to avoid being killed by the terrorists.

He said when the attackers started shooting, he thought it could be secret cult war or fighting between two rival cult group in the area. But, it soon became done on him, his life was in danger and swiftly, he hide under the bench.

“Wen I hear di gun shots, I lie down here and say God na like dis I go take die?”, the man said in pidgin English.

He said he saw two of the attackers with AK-47.

Adding that, they shot one person at the entrance of the church building, came inside and started shooting at everyone in the church sporadically. It was then he quickly hide under the bench.

Deaths toll of the attack were estimated to be 85 but Ondo State Government on Thursday said 40 persons died but many others are still receiving treatment in the hospital.
