Anambra Election: Police Confirms Unknown Gunmen In Control Of 6 Communities In Ihiala

Nigeria Police Force has confirmed that armed group for the agitation of Biafra Republic often referred to as unknown gunmen are in control of Azia, Lilu, Ubuluisiuzor, Orsumoghu, Isseke and Mbosi communities in the Ihiala local government area of Anambra state

Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, Remi Adeoye made the confirmation known when he granted interview to AIT during the conduct of the Anambra Governorship supplementary election in Ihiala today.

According to Remi Adeoye, intelligence gathering have shown that the unknown gunmen controlled the communities but the police choose not to use the needed force in this period of election to root them out inorder to avoid killing innocent people and scaring more people away from participating in the election.

The police Deputy Commissioner also added that the security operatives have held the unknown gunmen back to ensure they don’t infiltrate into other areas of Ihiala, he described as places already secured.

Contrary to report that election will not be held in the six communities, OsazuwaAkonedo reports that election was conducted across the 75 polling units in the communities with a very low turn out and the candidate of the All Progressive Grand Alliance, Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo won almost all the polling units in the six wards.
