Edo Deputy Governor Stops Monarch’s Arrest
Edo State Deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu has condemned the attempted arrest of his own country home Monarch, His Royal Highness, Alhaji Kadiri Imonikhe, the Ogieneni of Uzairue Kingdom in the Etsako West Local Government area of Edo State.
Philip Shaibu in a statement yesterday said one of the sons of the Uzairue Kingdom currently in position of authority in neighbouring state took advantage of his privileged position on Thursday to deploy police men from Abuja to arrest the Monarch over crisis between communities in the Uzairue kingdom.
The Deputy Governor said he visited his country home yesterday to call for total truce, calm, and a ceasefire amongst the conflicting communities in the Uzairue Kingdom.
The Deputy Governor described the attempted arrest as barbaric, unimaginable, sacrilegious and unbecoming act against the royal father, the family and an affront on the entire Uzairue Kingdom.
Statement from the Office of the Edo Deputy Goveror, Philip Shaibu reads:
Today I visited my country home to call for a total truce, calm and a ceasefire amongst conflicting communities in Uzairue kingdom.
The peace meeting was said to have been prompted by the attempted forceful arrest of His Royal Highness, Alhaji Kadiri Imonikhe, Omogbai IV, the Ogieneni of Uzairue Kingdom.
Attempts were made by some security personnel Thursday to forcefully arrest the royal father allegedly sponsored and drafted from Abuja by one of his subjects who is in the corridors of power in one of our neighbouring states.
The Deputy Governor frowned at the unimaginable, describing it as barbaric, sacrilegious and unbecoming act against the royal father, the family and an affront on the entire Uzairue
Kingdom.
The Deputy Governor who is also an illustrious son of the Uzairue appealed that all curses (if any) that has been pronounced against each other out of provocations and frayed nerves as regards the ugly development should be reversed in the interest of the growth, development and peaceful coexistence of the kingdom.
The government will leave no stone unturned in bringing the perpetrators of this unpleasant and highly condemnable act to book. We all have to continue to cooperate with the Nigerian police and other sister agencies to foster peaceful coexistence”
Development can only take place on the mantra of peace in any society. It’s a good development that those involved are already making frantic efforts to apologize to His Highness and the entire Uzairue kingdom for the despicable act and we must give peace a chance.
We are already entering into another festive season where our sons and daughters will be visiting to celebrate with their families, thus peace should be our priority” Shaibu said.
The Deputy Commissioner of Police, DCP Dantawaye Gajere who spoke on behalf of the Nigerian Police noted that, from the beginning of the crises, His Highness respected law and order, calmed the youth from the point of his attempted arrest by operatives from Abuja. He also appreciated the Deputy Governor for the role he has played in ensuring that there was no breakdown of law and order within the people and communities in Uzairue kingdom.
“The process of total reconciliation has begun already by the Deputy Governor calling for withdrawal of petition(s) and brokering peace. We are seriously leaving no stone unturned with regards to this issue and I assure you that everything will be back to normal in no distant time” Gajere said.

Appreciating the peace move by is Excellency, the Deputy Governor, Chairman of Jattu-Uzairue Community, Chief Abudu Egele, expressed joy that peace is gradually being restored following the intervention of the Deputy Governor and security agencies.
Alhaji Kadiri Imonikhe Omogbai IV, the Ogieneni of Uzairue Kingdom expressed appreciation and promised to ensure peace and unity within the entire Uzairue kingdom.
