How Security Operatives Battle Gallantly To Make Cubana Chiefpriest, Wife Escape Death On Friday Night In Oba
It was a rain of bullets on Friday night for over an hour at New road junction in Oba Community when Pascal Okechukwu, well known as Cubana Chiefpriest, wife and security aides came under heavy gun battle with Unknown Gunmen suspected to be members of the Biafra secessionist armed group.
It was gathered that the Unknown Gunmen had laid ambush at the New road T-junction leading to Nnewi along the Onitsha-Owerri road, and immediately they saw the convoy of Cubana Chiefpriest, they started firing with pump action gun.
According to passersby, the security operatives quickly disembarked and took cover inside the deep gutters along the road and engaged the Unknown Gunmen for over an hour.
The passersby said the Unknown Gunmen killed two of the security operatives but authority is yet to respond to the claim.
Passersby added that the attack occurred between 9:30 pm till 11 pm when Navy re-enforcement came from Onitsha.
Passersby said the gallantry of Cubana Chiefpriest security aides pushed the unknown gunmen to retreat towards Rojenny Tourist Games Village which enabled the vehicle conveying Cubana Chiefpriest to make U-turn and return back towards Owerri.
Passersby said; the Unknown Gunmen after making U-turn along the Onitsha-Owerri road at the turning point in front of Rojenny Tourist Games Village, penetrated through George street where they shot sporadically into the air to scare away fun seekers at a beer parlour and other football fans at viewing centre along the street, attempted to give Cubana Chiefpriest a chase but they were prevented by the security operatives who remained hidden and returned fire inside the gutters.

“It was when Navy men from Onitsha came to the scene. The security operatives started coming out from the gutters”, said, one of the passersby who said he laid down flat along the roadside during the gun battle.
