Delta State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa has called on the National Assembly to propose a clause for the re-drafting of the entire 1999 Nigeria constitution.

Governor Okowa made the call yesterday when he received in audience the Senate Sub-Committee on the review of the 1999 Constitution at Government House, Asaba.

His words:

Earlier today, I received the Senate Sub-Committee on the review of the 1999 Constitution led by Senator James Manager at the Government House, Asaba.

At the meeting, I spoke about the need for the National Assembly to consider proposing a clause to allow for the re-drafting of the entire Constitution.

This is because the process of amending the Constitution year-in-year-out has always been quite challenging.

As members of the committee are in the state to conduct this two-day public hearing, it is my hope that the needs of the Nigerian people will be heard and taken into full consideration during the Constitution amendment process.
