As Russia Sends Instructors To Train Niger Troops, What Nigerians Need To Know – Reno Omokri
Russian military instructors on Thursday night arrived Niger with an air defence system and other equipment as part of the West African nation’s deepening security ties with Moscow, state television announced late Thursday.
Niger’s military government agreed in January to step up military cooperation with Russia, after expelling French forces that and asking the United States of America, USA troops to leave the country. The Military Junta revoke the approval given to the US military base in the country.
Reno Omokri, a political analyst and public speaker, in a message few minutes ago compared Nigeria population growth with that of Russia and advised the country on what needed to be done to make Nigeria more secured.
Excerpts:
The Only Aspect of Life In Which Nigeria Dominates Russia
As Russia sends weapons and military advisers to Niger Republic, ostensibly to protect them from us in Nigeria, let us be aware that in 1914, the population of Imperial Russia was 135 million, while the population of the recently amalgamated Nigeria was 18 million. A century later, the population of Russia is 145 million, while the population of Nigeria is projected to be 218 million.
In 100 years, Russia added only 10 million to its population. In that same period, Nigeria’s population multiplied by twelve and we added 200 million people to our population. Take a moment and absorb this fact. When you recover from your shock, feel free to fact-check me.
When it rains in Russia, they rush to the farm to produce food. When it showers in Nigeria, we run to the bedroom to make babies.
If we do not find a way to incorporate family planning into our national policy, we will never be as secure and as prosperous as we can be.
The insecurity and economic challenges in Nigeria were predicted by the renowned economist, Reverend Thomas Malthus, in 1798, when he declared in his book, An Essay on the Principle of Population, that if a country’s population expands faster than her economy, it will lead to wars, strife, famine and pestilences.
Nigeria, therefore, has two choices. To expand our economy faster than our population, which is not always possible. Or to control our population growth, so that our economy grows faster than our population, which, while not easy, is more achievable than the first option.
Failing that, we will never have peace, progress and security due to the fact of too many people competing for too few resources.
