Evboesi Oil Palm Plantation Will Improve Diversification Of State Economy From Crude Oil – Obaseki
By Godwin Obaseki
About five years ago, we embarked on several trips to Indonesia to understand how they cultivate their oil palm and attract investment into the sector.
This led to the creation of the Edo State Oil Palm programme (ESOPP), which is a programme where we partner with the private sector.
ESOPP has birthed several oil palm projects in the state.
One of such initiatives is the oil palm nursery bed project at Evboesi community in Orhionmwon Local Government Area, a 10,000 hectare oil palm plantation, which I recently inspected.
Our sustained investment in oil palm cultivation and production will enhance the diversification of the state’s economy from crude oil and support ongoing efforts to engender forest regeneration.
