N80b Fraud: EFCC Releases Accountant General At Night
Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC has released the arrested and subsequently suspended Accountant General of the Federation, Ahmed Idris on Wednesday night.
A viral video shows the AGF, Idris Ahmed reunited with his family on Wednesday night.
PUNCH newspaper on Thursday quoted the spokesperson of EFCC, Wilson Uwujaren, saying, the AGF was released on Wednesday night after meeting his bail conditions.
“The suspended Accountant-General is out on bail. He was released last night,” Uwujaren was quoted as saying.
“Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Monday, May 16, 2022, arrested serving Accountant General of the Federation, Mr. Ahmed Idris in connection with diversion of funds and money laundering activities to the tune of 80 billion naira (Eighty Billion Naira only),” Uwujaren’s statement after the AGF was arrested.
EFCC thereafter the arrest also discovered another suspected fraud case of 90 billion naira linking the AGF.
